The dolls are high school kids (seemingly, although there are a few surprises). This school is much like a typical high school with hall monitors, cheer leading squads, cool kids, geeks, sporting types and academics. However the common elements that you associate with school all have a monster theme to them. So the cheer leading squad is the fear leading squad and they sing or cheer about ghoulish things. The high school team plays casketball rather than basketball. Quirky little changes like these continually reaffirm that the school is full of little monster so to speak. All the main characters are the children of famous monsters from the old horror films of yesteryear. So you have Frankie Stein, Draculaura Vike, Clawdeen Wolf, Lagoona Blue, Cleo de Nile, Deuce Gorgon and Ghoulia Yelps. They are the sons and daughters of the famous monster movie characters and it's not too hard to figure out who's who. Frankie is Frankenstein's daughter. Draculaura is the daughter of Dracula. Clawdeen is the daughter of the wolfman or werewolf. Lagoona is the daughter of the creature from the blue lagoon. Cleo is the daughter of the Mummy. Deuce is the son of Medusa. And Ghoulia is the daughter of the Zombie. As you can see, most of the dolls are girls and these toys are primarily aimed at girls. They lookstylish and also have monster touches that make the dolls unique and a bit more interesting than other doll lines on the market. Each doll is around 10 to 11 inches tall. Depending on who they are they will have characteristics that hint at their heritage. The most obvious aspect of this is that each doll has an accompanying pet that is related to their theme. For instance, Cleo has a pet Egyptian cobra. Lagoona has a pet Piranha that she keeps in a goldfish bowl type handbag. Other than the pets, the dolls have looks that reflect their heritage. Clawdeen has pointy ears and is a bit hairy. Cleo has mummy wrappings as part of her costume. As the Monster High story develops, new characters are added. Some of the new characters that are planned to join the school in the next year or so are the siblings of Clawdeen - Howleen Wolf and Clawd Wolf. You will also see Holt Hyde, Jackson Jekyll, Spectra Vondergeist, Abbey Bominable , Operetta and Toralei Stripe. Can you work out who their famous monster parents are ? Gil Webber is the latest character to feature in Monster high world. He makes his debut on spring break at Skull Shores. Operetta is a much anticipated doll and no doubt her father is the Phantom of the Opera...funny, as I always
thought he was unlucky in love. Maybe he turned his life around after that nasty "incident" at the
theatre. This “fleshes out” the story of the dolls and develops new stories from time to time. This can give kids a bit of context about their new doll and scenarios that they can use to play with the dolls. Kids can immerse themselves in the world as if these new characters were their own new best friends forever. Some of the storylines include Dawn of the Dance, which is all about the Prom night at Monster High. Then you get a weekend at the beach for the kids as they head over to Gloom Beach to play with frisbees and volleyballs. Clawdeen should be pretty good at that but poor old Frankie and Draculaura might not be so keen. If that sounds too energetic then Dead Tired is about the girls kicking back with a sleepover at Ghoulia's house..who has the trendiest pajamas ? The newest adventure for the Monster High kids is Skull shores. They are off for spring break and that takes them to the mysterious Skull Island. Sounds ominous or maybe just good fun !
